Every 13th September, on the festivity of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the statue of the Holy Face of Christ which is going to be homaged is dressed with the jewels that belong to its treasure. On that day, it is forbidden to enter the cathedral for more than an hour, while the goldsmiths dress the statue with the crown, the collar, the medallion, the belt, the shoes, the sceptre and the keys of the town. Once the dressing is over, the cathedral’s doors are reopened and the crowd of visitors can get into it to pay homage to the sacred image.
